Applied Digital Learning Journey Synthesis

A Final Reflection

COVA Reflection and Innovative Project Update

Books I read for the ADL Program

Where I started

Once I read, studied and understood that the ADL program was about MY choice, ownership and voice being created through an authentic learning environment, the material began to make sense. My advice to any new ADL student would be to watch the videos on Dr. Harapnuik’s website, sooner than later. Embrace the COVA+CSLE approach and you will be off to a great start.

Innovation Plan Update

I also reflected on my Innovation Plan Update. Although it was not implemented, I look forward to trying to implement it in the future. My school district started a pilot for a new math program. Due to the new pilot, and the need for teacher support, I changed my innovative idea from social studies to math for the 2023-2024 school year. My next step is to present Innovation Plan to my administrators this year. I feel that with the new math curriculum my district has put into place, it will be an idea that our administration will listen to and hopefully consider.

What is Next?

I am not sure if I will ever fully implement my Innovation Plan. Throughout this journey, I have learned how to be a leader, how to develop innovative ideas and share them, and how to create significant learning environments where learners have choice, ownership and voice over their learning.

What I Could Do Better

Seeing myself as a leader and gaining the self-confidence to approach administrators is something I could do better. It is always unnerving when presenting original thoughts or ideas, especially when the people I am presenting to are my appraisers. But now, it is important to see myself as a leader and an innovative thinker. No one will believe in me if I do not believe in myself. My innovative ideas are dependent on it.

Final Thoughts

As my ADL journey comes to a close, I am excited to see where this degree takes me. I am proud of the work I put into it and of my ePortfolio. I do not know where the next part of the journey will take me, but as a lifelong learner, I am always looking forward to learning something new.
