The ePortfolio

Why I wish I had one years ago

This is the first time I have created an ePortfolio for my teaching career. I had experience with websites and blogs but I was never a fan of blogging because I could not find my purpose or my why for doing it. As I learn more about ePortfolios, and use my own, I am starting to see how much it matters that we have one. When I worked on my undergraduate degree I wrote several research papers, took a lot of notes and did a lot of reflection on what I was learning–on paper. The technology to did not exist for me to have an ePortfolio. I wish I had kept all of the things I spent many hours researching and learning about.

With an ePortfolio I can reflect on what I am learning and always have a place to store it, reflect on it, and share with others who are interested. The same way I ask my students to talk and reflect on what they have learned, the ePortfolio is a place for me to reflect on what I am learning and deepen my understanding of the ADL program.

My goal is to apply for jobs in the EdTech field when I graduate. I hope to use my ePortfolio to showcase what I have learned and what my learning philosophy about technology is. I think the ePortfolio will also showcase my professional learning to future employers.
